Kathmandu, April 26
President of the Nepali Congress, Sushil Koirala, has said the political consensus would be built by accommodating the views of four major political powers- UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress, CPN UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front. But, the NC would not deviate from its ideology, he stressed.
Speaking at an interaction on ‘Students’ role in writing federal democratic constitution’ organized on the occasion of the 42nd Establishment Day of Nepal Students Union, here on Thursday; President Koirala said the NC would not compromise against democratic norms, values, and ideology.
"We are ready to include the agenda brought by the major political parties in the CA but won’t compromise by deviating from its political principle," he underscored.
Political parties were holding extensive discussions to clear the political impasse, he said, adding that writing democratic constitution was the main task at present.
Similarly, NC General Secretary Prakashman Singh expressed his confidence that the new constitution would institutionalize federalism and democratic republican in the country.
Central member of the NC, Sujata Koirala, said the responsibility to promulgate democratic constitution and institutionalize federalism has come to the Nepali Congress.
On the occasion, various leaders of the party, and Union leaders stressed on bringing democratic constitution.
