Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang Friday urged the political parties to reach a consensus to promulgate the new constitution within the stipulated deadline.
He said that the political parties should give up their political ego to conclude the constitution writing process.
Talking to a delegation of Nepal Press Chautari at his chamber, Nembang said that the new constitution should address all voices of Nepalese people and added that the parties should give priority to the voices of the people and reach a consensus to promulgate the constitution.
He said that the new constitution should resolve the problems of all castes, ethnicities, marginalized and poor people and stressed that the parties had no alternative but to promulgate the new constitution.
He said that the new constitution would establish a Federal Democratic Republican Nepal.
He urged the parties to play a creative role to institutionalize the political achievements.
On the occasion, the delegation handed over the memorandum to CA chairman Nembang and demanded he play creative role to promulgate the constitution within stipulated deadline.
They also demanded press freedom through the new constitution.
Nembang said that he was positive about ensuring the rights of journalists and establishing press freedom through the new constitution.
Meanwhile, CA Chairman Nembang Friday urged all parties to keep intact their promises to promulgate the new constitution within the given timeframe.
Speaking at a function organized at the Nepal Arts Council, he said, "If the constitution drafting process is not completed within the stipulated deadline, the parties should give the answer to the people."
He said that the disputed issues still remain to be sorted out even though the army integration was coming to a close.
He expressed the optimism that the leaders would be able to resolve the issues in time and the new statue would be drafted by the given date.
