Kathmandu, May 24 . The Broader Madhesi Front on Thursday took serious exception to the coalition government’s decision to extend the term of Constituent Assembly by three months.
The front, an alliance of cross-party Madhesi lawmakers, said that the idea of CA term extension is not acceptable at any cost.
Organising a press conference at Singha Durbar on Thursday, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal chairman and coordinator of the front, Upendra Yadav said that the extension of the CA tenure by more three months is not justifiable because it would lead the country to uncertainty and darkness.
Stressing on the promulgation of the new constitution within the May 27 deadline, Yadav urged the leaders and lawmakers of all parties to concentrate their efforts on promulgating the constitution within the deadline.
He further said that the major political parties are using CA term extension as blackmailing tactic for their own benefits, which is regretful.
The front has been agitating in the Terai for past few days for identity-based federalism and autonomous Madhes state.
