Kanchanpur, Feb. 14

Smoke coming from and the use of woods for making the cements degrade the environment. The question arises that can a brick businessman preserve the environment? Many of us will not have an affirmative answer with the above statement.

But some of the businessman are conserving the environment and can be a matter of amazement to all of the people. For the first time in Nepal, Mahakali Bricks Business has taken an initiative for preserving the environment.

With an aim to preserve the environment, these businessmen have opened cooperative.

The money collected from the cooperative is spent for planting trees and producing seeds. The businessmen affiliated with Mahakali Bricks have produced seeds. Shankar Chandra, president of the Mahakali Bricks said "We want to set an example that we cut and plant trees,"

Every year, the 24 bricks businessmen across the district invest Rs 25,000 in Environment Preservation Cooperative. The collective money is used for preserving the environment.

Chandra said that 1, 50, 000 plants will be planted in the private fields that will be provided for free of cost. "The people taking the plants will be inspected for three years to see whether they utilize it or not. Chandra informed that sagun, bakaino and dale grass and other plants will be produced this year. "The grown plants will be utilized at the brick industry", he added.
