‘Govt ready to address problems of Koshi flood’
 

Sunsari (Pakali), Sept. 2

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bamdev Gautam on Tuesday said that the government was planning to address the problems caused by the flood of Koshi river through a short and long term package programme.

After conducting an aerial inspection of half a dozen flood affected villages of Sunsari, he addressed an all party meeting in Inaruwa and said that the government would hold talks with the Indian government to mitigate the situation in the flood affected areas.

Earlier, he had inquired into the situation of the disaster with the security personnel at the eastern regional headquarters of the Armed Police Force (APF) about the rescue, relief distribution and disaster management in the flood affected areas.

In Biratnagar, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bamdev Gautam today said the government was moving forward to restore law and order and give people a sense of security, RSS added.

Talking to journalists here today, Gautam said writing a new constitution and restoring law and order were the top agenda of the government. He said he had already directed the chiefs of the bodies under the home ministry to achieve the tasks.

He said political parties also had responsibility to maintain peace and that the people would feel a sense of security very soon.

Gautam said the government would talk to some underground and armed outfits which were fighting for a political cause and deal with other groups accordingly.

He said the clash between Youth Force and YCL in Dhankuta would be probed. He praised the cooperation from traders, industrialists, civil society and commoners for the relief of the victims of Koshi flood.
