A win for Kathmandu and Birgunj

Kathmandu, April 17

Region no. 2 (Birgunj) defeated Region no.1 (Biratnagar) by seven wickets while Region no.3 Kathmandu registered four wickets victory over Region no.8 (Pokhara) in the ongoing U-19 National Cricket Tournament on Tuesday.

At T.U Ground, Kirtipur, Biratnagar electing to first bating, posted 213 run in 50 overs while losing 8 wickets in the 50 over match.

Siddhant Lohani completed his half century in 62 balls with five boundaries and one six. He went on to score a century off 61 balls with seven boundaries. While, Kamal Kishore Premi scored 30 runs with four boundaries

Jatta Shankar Sharraf took two wickets whereas Jitendra Mukhiya, Bivek Dahli, Naresh Raj Giri and Akib Ansari took one wicket each for Biratnagar.

In reply, Birgunj completed their target in the 45.4 overs with the loss of 3 wickets. Bijay Ghalan completed their half century for the winning side Birgunj. With the win Birgunj topped the Group B table with 6 points from three matches. The topper of the group will play on final match on April 26.

At Engineering Ground, Pulchowk, electing bat first, Pokhara posted 137 runs in 43.3 overs with the loss of nine wickets.

High scorer Akash Thapa scored 41 runs off 40 balls with 7 boundaries while Amrit Shrestha score 40 runs from 88 balls with three boundaries.

Prajesh Bahadur Shing and Bijay Gautam took three wickets each while Jagat Chhetri took two wickets for Kathmandu.

In reply, Kathmandu closed the match in the 25.1 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. Top scorer Pawan Shrestha completed his half century in 51 balls with six boundaries whereas Ujjwal Thapa scored 25 runs with four boundaries.

Sushil Kandel took three wickets whereas Amrit Shrestha Govinda Pardhan and Amrit Gurung took one wicket each.
