Kathmandu, April 24

Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) cruised into the semifinal defeating Friends Club 1-0 at British Gurkha Cup Football Tournament on Tuesday at Dasarath Stadium.

Captain Anil Gurung scored the winning goal to set up the semifinal showdown with Nepal Police Club on Friday.

Gurung broke the deadlock in the 49th minutes of the game to put MMC fans into cloud nine. Gurung connected the ball off Mbile Stephan who flicked the corner off Sujal Shrestha.

MMC dominated the first half creating many chances to score but to their dismay they found the goal only in the second half. After scoring the goal, MMC played more attacking game but still they were unable to find more goals in their adversary’s post.

MMC caretaker Coach, Debu Jung Shahi admitted that his team lacked finishing skill against Friends Club. "Despite that my team is strong enough to play clinical game against bigwigs."

"Our target is to win the title and we will play better game in the semi final match against Nepal Police Club".

The Friends Club Coach Sri Ram Shreshta, after facing defeat, did not turned up at the post match conference.

Three Star will take on Himalayan Sherpa Club in the first semifinal on Wedndesday. The match will be played under flood light starting from 6 P.M. Host All Nepal Football Association had also hiked the price of tickets to Rs. 200 and Rs. 500 for the semifinal and final matches.
