CAN unveils team for U-16 Elite Cup

Kathmandu, April 25

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has unveiled the name of the players for the team to take part in the ACC U-16 Elite Cup Cricket Tournament on Wednesday in Kathmandu.

The Elite Cup is scheduled to start from May 4-13 in Malaysia.

According to CAN, 14 players and four substitute players were selected from the 19 players who were in the close camp.

The U-16 Nepali cricket team will be skippered by Dipendra Chand. The other members of the team are Aadil Khan, Rupesh Bastola, Kalicharan Yadav, Sashi Bhusan Mishra, Mukunda Yadav, Nurdhwoz Sen, Jagadish Chand, Alfan Mansuri, Akash Bista, Rabin Gupta, Anup Neupane, Aashif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel.

Similarly, Nitesh Thakur, Lokesh Jha, Ajay Sahani and Heman Rai are named as substitute players.

For the first time domestic coach Manjur Alam Khan is given the in-charge of the team.

Nepal will take on Kuwait on May 4 at Bayuemas Ground and will meet on Bahrain on May 6 at Kinrara, Iran on May 8 and will face Malaysia on May 9 at Kinrara ground.

Nepal finished second after losing to Singapore in the first edition held in Nepal in 2010. Singapore, Hong Kong, Oman and Thailand is placed in group A.
