Baitadi lift U-19 cricket title

Region No. 6 (Baitadi) registered four wickets victory Region No. 2 (Birgunj) to lift the title of the U-19 National Cricket on Thursday at TU Ground, Kirtipur.

Opting to bat first, Birgunj were mustered to 100 runs losing their all wickets in 37.2 overs. In reply, Baitadi, chased the victory target in 31.4 overs losing six wickets with 102 runs. The winner bagged home Rs. 25,000 as a cash prize.

Opener Surendra Chand scored highest 38 run off 44 balls that included seven boundaries. He partnered for 59 runs with Prem Tamang before latter was out in 16.1 overs making 18 runs.

The other double figure contributor was Saurav Chand who was not out with 22 runs as he guided Baitadi to the victory.

Aakib Ansari and Hasim Ansari both picked three wickets each but were unable to constrain Baitadi.

Earlier, Prem Tamang took three wickets whereas Santosh Bhatta, Yagya Man Kumal and Binod Lama each dismissed two Birgunj batsman to restrict them into paltry total.

Suraj Kurmi top scored with 30 runs facing 67 balls while Aakib Ansari (18 off 54 balls) and Opener Hasim Ansari (15 off 15 balls) chipped in for Birgunj with double digit score.

Hasim Ansari took the Player of the Series and Best Batsman title while Binod Lama was adjudged with best bowler.
