Khanal slams govt for imposing dictatorship
By A Staff Reporter

Kathmandu, May 2: CPN-UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal Tuesday said that the ruling coalition parties were trying to impose dictatorship in the country. Speaking at a programme organised by Nepal Trade Union Federation on the occasion of 123rd May Day, former PM Khanal said that the parties were unable to forge consensus on the disputed issues of the constitution due to the ruling parties and the government. He said, “The government is trying to impose dictatorship and they are responsible for the failure in resolving the disputed issues.” He also accused the government of obstructing the formation of a national unity government and added that without forming a unity government, the constitution drafting process would not complete. It was the responsibility of all parties to conclude the constitution drafting process within May 27 deadline, he said adding that his party was ready to be more flexible to promulgate the constitution within stipulated deadline. He said that the Madhes based parties had forgotten the geographical situation of Nepal that there are also hills and mountains in Nepal. He said that his party was committed to form the National Labour Commission to resolve the problems faced by the workers. He said, “It is essential to form the National Labour Commission to honour the workers who are participating in the political movement of Nepal since long.” Lawmaker Binod Chaudhary stressed the need of a friendly environment in the industry sectors to secure the rights of the workers. He said that if we succeed to establish good relationship between the workers and owners, industrial development would be possible. Federation Chairman Bishnu Rimal said that the May 1 was a day of labourers and added that unity among the workers would help establish the rights of the labourers.
