Nepal defeats Bahrain in ACC U-16 Elite Cup
By A Staff Reporter

Kathmandu, May 6

Nepal registered second straight win on Sunday at the ACC U-16 Elite Cup Cricket Tournament, outplaying Bahrain by eight wickets at the Kinrara cricket ground in Malaysia.

Batting first at the Kinrara Oval in Kualalampur, Bahrain set a target of 142 runs in 39.5 overs for Nepal after losing all their wickets in the 40 over match. After the Nepali bowling side proved their mettle-- A.Bista alone took 3 crucial wickets for just 14 runs.

In reply, the Nepali boys closed the match in just 21.2 overs for two wickets. With Dependra Chand’s marvelous 75-run inning and Nurdhwaj Sen’s 41 runs the Nepali side was able to cruise through the match unscathed. Chand was declared Man-of-the-Match for his match winning innings. With four points from two matches, the possibility of Nepal making it to the second round of the tournament seems evident.

Earlier, Nepal had defeated Kuwait with a mammoth margin of 78 runs last week.

Nepal is placed in Group ‘B’ alongside Malaysia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iran while Group ‘A’ comprises Singapore, Hong Kong, Oman and Thailand.

Nepal will play Iran next at the Bayuemas cricket ground on Tuesday.
