Nepal advance into semifinal

Kathmandu, May 8 Nepal trounced Iran by 167-run to enter the semifinal of the ACC U-16 Elite Cup Cricket tournament on Tuesday at Bayuemas Oval Cricket Ground in Kualalumpur, Malaysia. This is the third consecutive victory for Nepal. They had thrashed Kuwait and Bahrain in the previous matches. Nepal beat Kuwait 78 run in the opening match of the tourney while Nepali boys registered 8 wickets victory over Bahrain in their opening match. Winning the toss, Nepal elected to bat first to collect the mammoth total of 246 runs giving away their eight wickets in the 40 overs match. Iran, in run chase, were annihilated in the 28 overs as they could only muster 79-runs losing their all wickets. In order to score the highest total of the tournament, vice captain Aadil Khan and Jagdish Chand both completed half centuries. Man of the match Khan hammered 71 runs whereas Chand batted for 51 runs. Khan partnered with Aasif Seikh for the 114-run stand for the third wicket before the latter was run out scoring 37-runs for Nepal. Khan then collaborated with Chand for the 72-run stand to make the Nepal’s score 216/4. Khan hit six boundaries while Chand had four sixes and four boundaries in his batting. Not only in batting but Nepal performed outstanding bowling against Iran too. Kalicharan Yadav and Aakash Bista both grabbed four wickets to wreck Iran’s batting order. Rupesh Bastola also contributed picking one wickets of Iran. Yadav conceded 12 runs and bowled one maiden over in his six over spell. Likewise, Bista had two maiden overs and gave away 20 runs in his eight over spell. The opening batsman Aslam Javam (21) and Javed Tarkhan (11) were the two batsmen to cross the double figure for the Iran. The nine number batsman Zobeir Afarin was retired hurt owing to the injury. Nepal will take on take on host Malaysia in the first match of the last four on Thursday at Bayuemas Oval Cricket Ground in Kualalumpur, Malaysia.
