Biratnagar, May 12
Children of Morang have been suffering from diarrhea due to the use of polluted water with the increasing summer heat.
Some 20-25 children visit the Koshi Zonal Hospital at Biratnagar, the hospital said.
Likewise, the Nobel Medical College and other nursing homes are also receiving such patients.
The cause of the epidemic is increasing heat, haphazard eating, polluted water and lack of care, said chief of the Paediatrics Department of the Koshi Zonal Hospital Dr. Prakash Rana.
Some 5-10 patients also visit for treatment of pneumonia daily although this is less than in last year.
Dr. Rana says the disease is seen reduced after vaccine was given since 2011. It is caused due to lack of nourishment, lack of immunity to fight pneumonia and increasing malnourishment. (RSS)
Some 109 patients of pneumonia had visited the hospital last month. RSS
