U-22 football team announced

Kathmandu, May 12

All Nepal Football Association has named 27 players for AFC U-22 Qualifiers to be held from June 2 -10 at Dasarath Stadium in Kathmandu.

Along with host Nepal, Jordan, Yemen, Bangladesh and Uzbekistan are pooled in Group D Qualifiers. The top two teams will qualify to the final round while third place team will have an opportunity to progress as the best third placed team from all Group Qualifiers.

The Nepali team is looked after by Coach Krishna Thapa. According to the ANFA press statement, Defender Rohit Chand will make to the team after he returns from India where his playing at the I-League.

Nepal will take on Bangladesh on 2nd of June in their opening match and will meet Yemen in their second match on 4th of June. Their third match will be against Uzbekistan on 6th June and square with Bangladesh on 8th June as their last match.

The AFC U-22 Championship Finals will be played from January 11-26 on 2014. All together 14 nations will advance to the final from the qualifying competition (the top two teams and the best third-placed team). The hosts will be given direct entry to the Finals.

MF: Shiva Shrestha, Roshan Lamichane, Prabin Karki, Ganesh Khadka, Rupesh KC, Anil Ojha, Amir Shrestha, Jagjeet Shrestha, Bishal Rai

FW: Asim Jung karki, Jangbu Sherpa, Bharat Khawas, Sujal Shrestha, Sushil KC (Substitute player) Sulav Maskey.
