By A Staff Reporter

Kathmandu, May 12

Nepal Police Club (NPC) Saturday registered a 2-0 victory over visiting Mohun Bagan (MB) in a friendly match held at Dasharath Stadium here.

Three Star Club striker Santosh Sahukhala opened the account in the 80th minute for NPC. When his powerful shot from outside the box area took the direction of the net while Bharat Khawas scored a wining goal in the 86th minutes. Khawas scored the goal in the counter attack from the central line.

NPC players made many moves from the starting and they also put the visiting team under pressure right from the beginning. MB holds the fourth position in the Indian League.

Police were forced to field the Nepal International players Santosh Sahukhala, Sandip Rai, Kiran Chemjong, Bharat Khawas and Biraj Maharjan against Indian team.

Mohun Bagan played the exhibition match against Police before the start of next I-league season.

After NPC, Mariners will reach Siliguri where they will play against Prayag United as the last match of the season of a Calcutta Football League Premier Division.

NPC coach, Birat Krishna Shrestha praised his boys’ performance against the visiting Mohun Bagan but admitted that the Kolkata based side was still better.

"Boys played well. We utilized the chances that we created", coach Shrestha said, "But the Indian club was better. They have good individual players. I am happy to win the match".

"The presence of Bharat Khawas, Kiran Chemjong, Santosh Sahukhala and Biraj Maharjan strengthened the side", coach Shrestha said, "But we deserved the win. The credit for the win goes to all the players".

NPC striker Jumanu Rai was left out of the game due to the knee injury which he picked during the British Gurkha Cup in the Capital.
