American Ambassador to Nepal Scott H. DeLisi Monday called on Constituent Assembly (CA) chairman Subas Chandra Nembang.

During the meeting held at Nembang’s office in Singh Durbar, they talked about the latest political situation in Nepal, especially the ongoing constitution drafting process.

CA chairman Nembang said that the parties should resolve the disputed issues of the constitution to promulgate the new constitution within the stipulated deadline.

He said that the parties were close to forging consensus and assured the US Ambassador that the new constitution would be promulgated within May 27.

After the meeting, DeLisi informed that Nembang told him that the parties were serious to resolve the pending issues of the constitution and they were intensifying two-party and all-party meetings to resolve the differences.

Nembang said that the parties had no alternative but to promulgate the new constitution to secure the rights of all people.

On the occasion, DeLisi said that all parties should work jointly to promulgate the new constitution within May 27 deadline.

He said that the American government was positive to support Nepal in her development process and stressed that the new constitution was essential for sustainable development of Nepal.

He said that the new constitution would help resolve the problems of Nepalese people and accelerate the development process.
