U-19 cricketers get MS Dhoni tips

Kathmandu, June 16

The U-19 Cricket team was exalted after the meeting with Indian Cricket Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at TU Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Dhoni, who arrived in Kathmandu with her wife Sakshi, went to the Kirtipur to boost the morale of the U-19 team who are taking part in the World Cup. He spent around two hours with Nepali senior cricketers and women cricketers too. He not only shared his experience but also gave some advice to the players.

After meeting Dhone, U-19 Captain Prithu Baskota said that the team was really exited to meet him. "Talking with him added the energy in us. Dhoni advised us that team unity is the significant factor in the game and take the team as the family."

Prithu said that Dhoni gave the knowledge about the world cup and the difference between the home and abroad pitch. He said that Nepal should have patience while playing in Australia, where the world cup is going to be held, for it have the bouncing wicket.

The former captain of Nepali senior cricket team, Binod Das said that the ten minutes spent with Dhoni has been his memorable moment of the life. "I am really happy to meet Dhoni as the cricketer myself."

Nira Rajopadhya, captain of women cricket team, said that arrival of Dhoni helped to have a high morale. She believed that his visit will help in the development of the Nepali cricket.

Dhoni, after arriving to the Tribhuvan International Airport, said that he would be happy to promote cricket. "Cricket is an upcoming sport in Nepal and I want to see Nepali youth forming a famous cricket team in future", he said.

"Youth should come forward for sports besides studies as it helps earn goodwill for the country," Dhoni said while talking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival today.

Dhoni spent few hours at the TU Cricket Stadium, where he interacted and shared views with Nepalese U-19 players, who were taking part in the U-19 World Cup where India are their rivals.

Dhoni will pay a visit to revered Hindu temple of Pashupatinath on Monday morning before leaving to his home.
