By A Staff Reporter

Kathmandu, June 18

Nepal lost 0-1 to Yemen whereas Uzbekistan defeated Bangladesh by 2-1 in the ongoing AFC U-22 Championship Group D Qualifiers Monday.

Physically very strong Yemenis team led in the 29th minute when Sadam Hussein scored a goal to utilizing the pass off his friends Ali Ghurabah. Yemen will face on Uzbekistan Friday in their third match.

The Irani referee Jahanabzi Yadollah flashed the yellow card to the desk player Maged Nader of Yemen for using bad language to the Nepali players from desk.

Nepali boys made their attacks more powerful in the second half and got many chances in the tournament but in vain.

Nepal has colleted three points by defeating Bangladesh by 4-1 Saturday. Nepal U-22 coach Krishna Thapa said that he was happy seeing the performance of his boy during the match against Yemen. "Our boys have technically won the match against Yemen".

"My boys have played really well. I am happy with them. We just couldn’t score the goal, which is most important in football".

Abraham Mebratu, coach of Yemen, made four changes to the team that lost to Jordan. The changes paid off as his team recorded their first victory in the tournament.

Host Nepal will meet Uzbekistan in their third match of the tournament on Wednesday.

Earlier, Uzbekistan earned the three points with hard fought battle over Bangladesh. The 75th minutes goal from Gadoev Shohruh gave Uzbek win after the score was leveled in the 53rd minutes as Bangladesh were awarded a spot kick.

Uzbek took the lead in the 41st minutes of the match as Smolyachenko Pavel headed the stunner off Alibobo cross ball. But their lead was cancelled out in the second half as they conceded the penalty after one of their player handled the ball inside the box.

Emon Mahmud restored the parity easily from the spot kick to Bangladesh, which lost their opening match against Nepal.
