Chitwan, June 30:
Clashes between the cadres of UCPN-Maoist and CPN-Maoist over possessing the party office of Chitwan Saturday left two injured.They were injured in a firing.
The clashes erupted when cadres of both the parties claimed the ownership of the party office in Chitwan.
A dozen of other party cadres have been injured in the clashes. However, the police have yet to ascertain whether the firing took place at the office.
President of the District Sports Development Committee, Chitwan, and cadre of CPN-Maoists Suresh Thapa and Young Communist League cadre Uttam Gurung have been admitted in Bharatpur Medical College.
According to eye witnesses, after the two sides started the fight, firing took place some 100 meters north east from the party office.
Both the parties accused each other of opening the fire.
When asked, CPN-Maoist central member Anil Sharma "Birahi" accused the administration and UCPN-Maoists for attacking their cadres.
Sharma said that some UCPN-Maoist cadres entered into a meeting being held among his team and started throwing the party sign board.
He accused the police for forcefully taking him out of the party office.
Sharma said that he was unaware about the firing that happened at the party office.
Acting in charge Abinash of UCPN-Maoist said that discussions heated up when the party cadres from CPN-Maoist did not come to a consensus.
"The center has given an approval for keeping the board of CPN-Maoists. Despite
the consensus the party cadres from UPN-Maoists came and threw our sign board," he added.
A local bank had seized 10 katthas of land located at Krishnapur-6 after a garment factory there had not been able to run.
However, it has been learnt that the UCPN-Maoist again bought the land three years ago.
The two owners of the land were close to UCPN-Maoist.
After the official split, the UCPN-Maoist side was demanding with the CPN-Maoist for leaving the party office. However, both sides were adamant to controlling the the office.
Meanwhile, UCPN-Maoist, in a press statement released Saturday, said that it was a wrong claim of the breakaway party over the office.
