Thapa, Khadka, Bhushal join Friend’s Club

Kathmandu, July 3

The A Division Club Friends Club signed three national players Sagar Thapa, Nirajan Khadka and Deepak Bhusal on Tuesday in Kopundole Lalitpur.

National football skipper Thapa returned to the Friends’ Club where he started his career. Thapa played to Himalayan Sherpa in the last season. Thapa was the first successful national player who started his carrier from Friends. Thapa started his carrier from 2058 B.S from the Club.

Thapa, who was jobless for the long time, expressed his happiness over returning to his roots. "As Friend’s Club trusted us and increased our salary, we accepted the contract."

Similarly, former Manang Marsyangdi Club players Khadka and Bhushal also had played once from the Club in 2061 BS and 2063 BS respectively.

The president of the Club, Ratna Shumser Rana said that the newly recruited players will
be given Rs. 40,000. "The Friends Club will
be skippered Thapa and we aim to win the national league and book the place in the AFC President’s Cup."

The 40 years old club Friends success to bag the National League in 1996 A.D whereas hat trick in the Tribhuvan Challenge Cup in 2040, 2041 and 2042 B.S, they clinched Birgunj Gold Cup two times in 2040 and 2041 B.S.

The club has so far 20 players in their showcase. Shumser said that Club is looking for the sponsorship. "We are planning to invest around Rs. 10, 00,000 but we only have the income of around Rs. 60, 00, 000" Shumser added.
