Petition at UN for search

Kathmandu, Feb. 12

A Swiss Agency for Impunity, Geneva, has filed a petition at the United Nations Human Rights Committee for searching Nepal’s human rights defenders Rajendra Dhakal and Padman Narayan Nakarmi, who were made to disappear by the police personnel during the conflict period.

The Agency has also requested the Government of Nepal for protecting their human rights by giving information to their relatives about their status after searching whether they are living or dead.

The victims’ side has claimed that the police had arrested Dhakal on January 8, 1999 from Tanahu district and the Nepal Army made him to disappear from September 23, 2003.The petition states that police had taken under control Dhakal, whereas Nakarmi died due to torture while he was in Bhairavnath Battalion.
