Butwal, May 1
Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun on Tuesday asked the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML to sacrifice for constitution drafting process as the UCPN-Maoist has done for the peace process.
He said that his party concluded the peace process rolling back from its earlier stance in army integration process. „The ball is now in the NC, UML court. They should be flexible enough to complete the constitution drafting process on time,” Finance Minister Pun said.
Speaking at the 123rd International Labour Day organized by the All Nepal Trade Union Federation, Abadh State Committee in Butwal of Rupendehi, Pun said that the Maoist would not backtrack from its stance in directly elected president and state restructuring on the basis of identity.
Saying that the labour movement was only taken as political perspective, he said that the labour could take the lead of the country’s socio-economic transformation and political revolution as well.
He said that the struggle between employers and employees was merely guided by their interests. He suggested that both of them should try to narrow down the widening gulf between them.
„Labours want more wages out of their toil, while the owners try to make more profits. This creates problems,” he said.
He suggested that the workers should take the investment into consideration while putting their demand forth. He assured that the new constitution would incorporate the workers’ issues.
Chandra Prakash Khanal, politburo member of the UCPN-Maoist, said that the separate marking of the May Day would send a negative message to the workers about the significance of event.
