At the time when long hours of power outages have became a menace for people belonging to various sectors, the locals of the district have set an example by producing hydropower from a local river.
The area of Bansar, located at the eastern part of Lamjung looks colorful these days, thanks to the generation of power at local level.
With the initiation of Kaduri Agriculture and Association British Gorkha Nepal and the locals, a small hydropower system has been established at the river.
The production of electricity and its distribution to the locals have elated the residents.
It was during 2064 BS when the association produced 10-kilo watt of power from the local river.
A total of 129 households have benefited by the new innovation. Purna Bahadur Gurung, president of consumers committee, said that the locals no more had to use oil lamps and were jubilated to take advantage of electricity.
Gurung said that the children were elated to have 24 hours facility of electricity.
"The locals have gradually started to engage themselves in new business," he added.
The continuous efforts from the last five years have been finally paid off.
