Handicraft fair from Nov 22

Kathmandu, June 7

The Federation of Handicraft Association of Nepal (FHAN), in cooperation with Nepal Trade Integration System, Commerce and Supply Ministry, Nepal Trade and Export Promotion Center (TEPC), is organising the 10th Handicraft Trade Fair from November 22-26 this year.

The event is envisaged to be supported by Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Micro Enterprises Development Programme (MEDP), Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) and other product associations and district handicraft associations.

The trade fair is being organised to promote Nepalese handicrafts and create a forum for the professional buyers and sellers to meet each other and establish business relations, according FHAN.

The event is projected to develop as the business hub for the SAARC region’s handicraft entrepreneurs as there has been the participation of handicraft entrepreneurs from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka annually.

An estimated 20 participants from Bangladesh, 15 each from India and Pakistan will attend the event. Efforts are underway to have the participation from Maldives, Bhutan, Sri Lanka as well.

There will 250 stalls of handicrafts in the event. Among them, there will be about 12 pavilions and other individual handicraft booths of pashmina, Nepalese handmade paper, leather products, natural fiber products, wood products, ceramics and many more other handicrafts.

The trade fair venue will be decorated with different large statues made of metal and stone. There will be gates of different handicraft products.

Similarly, the 8th craft competition will be held on the spot with live demonstration.

More than 300,000 visitors from different walks of life are expected to visit the fair. There will a turnover of Rs.50,000,000 during the period.
