Kathmandu, June 10:
CPN-UML Sunday concluded that the UCPN-Maoist was trying to capture the state power through money, power and weapons. A meeting of UML Standing Committee held at the party’s central office, Balkhu, decided to continue the protest programmes against the government.
It said that the government was preparing to provoke a conflict in the country to create instability and disorder.
The meeting also decided to organize the mass meetings across the country and launch door to door programme to make people aware about the current political situation.
After the meeting, UML senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the party decided to continue its fight against the government’s dictatorship.
He said that the meeting also discussed about the preparation of the National Cadres Meeting (NCM) from June 18 to 19.
He said the party decided to organize the NCM at the City Hall.
He said, "The meeting also discussed about the disputed issues of the state restructuring."
He said that the UML would start its door to door campaign in all regions and districts to make the people aware about the Maoists’ ploy to capture the state power.
Nepal said, "The UML is trying to reach a consensus to form the national
consensus government but the Maoists are creating obstruction to form the unity government."
Nepal said that the NCM would provide the guideline to the leadership for further political steps of the party.
UML would identify the right roadmap from the NCM, Nepal said.
According to UML, party central members, party’s election committee members, disciplinary committee members, treasury committee members, central committee secretaries, zonal committee secretaries, district committees’ chairmen and sister organizations’ chiefs
s would participate in the NCM of UML.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the UML, Jhalanath Khanal, has said the UCPN-Maoist was inviting confrontation rather than forging consensus.
At an interaction organized by Press Chautari Nepal in the capital today, Chairman Khanal said his party would organize protest gatherings against the Maoists’ unconstitutional move of announcing fresh elections.
The Constituent Assembly was dissolved after the Maoist-led government failed to bring constitution, he said, accusing it of announcing next elections in order to capture the state authority.
Similarly, Chairman Khanal said the Maoist party was acting with ill ambition and immature way which was fatal to itself.
On the occasion, party leader KP Sharma Oli claimed that the announcement of the CA elections by the Maoist-led government would turn abortive because the ultra-leftist views of the Maoist had already failed.
Leader Oli further asserted that the Maoists would cease to exist by 2072BS.
The UML is organizing protest gatherings against government on June 18 -19.
