CA dissolved due to NC, UML: Prachanda
By A Staff Reporter

Lalitpur, June 11

UCPN-Maoist chairman Puspha Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ Monday said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) was dissolved due to Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.

Addressing a training programme organized for the party cadres at Khanna Garment here, Prachanda said the CA was dissolved owing to the stances of the two parties which were not ready to promulgate the new constitution including federalism.

The opposition parties-NC and UML were denying to provide the rights to the people by creating hurdles in all processes in the name of consensus, and added that such tendencies of the conservative parties would be countered through a mass movement.

"The state should be restructured in a scientific and practical manner and the people should be empowered with their rights. The achievements of various movements will be lost if the people do not get organized themselves," the Maoist chief said.

Referring to the internal rift in his party, he accused party vice chairman Mohan Baidhya of being close to NC and UML regarding the issue of federalism.

"At a time when all anti-federalism forces were united, it was a must for all pro-federalism of all parties to support the issue of the identity based federalism," he said.

He said that the dissenting faction was not in favour of party unity as they were rejecting the request of establishment faction to seek consensus through dialogues.

During the cadre training, chairman Prachanda directed the representatives of recently revived central committee of the party’s trade union, labour unions and cadres to make the people’s demonstration scheduled for June 15 a successful.

A day after the Maoist-aligned All Nepal Trade Union Federation was revived; Prachanda said that trade unions could play a crucial role in any movements.

ANTUF president Salikram Jammakattel said quoting Prachanda that he directed all to make necessary initiatives to shun the party conflict and maintain unity within the party through consensus.

Politburo member Hisila Yami stressed party unity to institutionalize the achievements.
