A Nepali learning website has been launched to teach foreign born Nepalese children Nepali.
According to the brain behind the website Sailesh Ghimire the website has been designed and developed to as a free resource tool the Nepalese community living abroad can use to teach their children Nepali. "I have developed this website as a free resource for Nepalese living in America, however it is accessible worldwide and can be used by anyone wanting to learn Nepali," said Ghimire.
Ghimire, also informed that there were currently thousands of Nepali children being raised in America, UK, Canada, Australia and other Western countries who are being deprived of their culture and language. "While many parents are making an effort to teach their children the Nepali culture and spoken language, the written language is being grossly neglected," he said.
The website currently consists of 12 videos, each containing two letters and Ghimire hopes to include eight more videos to complete the Nepalese alphabet including vowels. According to him the website will also consist of videos teaching children read and write words helping them move on to the next stage of reading and writing full sentences in Nepali.
"In order to keep the videos interesting and relevant to these children I have made the videos in English. This removes any barrier that might arise since some may not be able to understand Nepali at the level required to learn".
The website currently offers the following services:
- 20 lesson plans. Each lesson plan covers two letters
- 20 homework assignment to go with each lesson plan
- Access to 6 online teaching videos
