The local people are excited, as preparations for the development of two hydropower projects are being made in Narchyang Village Development Committee of Myagdi district.
Ppreparations are underway for the construction of the 164-MW Kaligandaki Gorge and the 42-MW Mistri Khola hydropower project in the VDC.
The Kaligandaki Gorge Project has been conducting an Environment Impact Assessment and started the process of distributing compensations, while the Mistri Khola project is in the process of Power Purchase Agreement. (PPA)
The hydro projects are being constructed with an investment of Rs. 20-25 billion.
The local people are being ecstatic as they are to get various opportunities after the construction of the hydropower projects.
Om Bahadur Budathoki, president of Janajagaran Youth Club, said that the local people are happy, as they hope to get job opportunities, development and construction along with the utilization of natural resources.
The local people are hopeful on the rapidity of infrastructures with the construction of hydro project.
In the area of the Gorge hydropower project, land pulling of around 200 ropanies of land has been completed with the distribution of Rs. 20 million.
Kumar Pandey, chief of the project, said that the dam would be constructed from the border of Lete and Kunjo VDC of Mustang.
According to Pandey, the physical infrastructure and the tunnel work would be started after seven months.
The company has informed that the local skilled manpower would be given high priority and an investment-friendly environment would be created at the local level.
