Six die, 12 injured as jeep, bus collide in Rupandehi

Six people died and 12 people were injured in a collision between a jeep and a bus at Murgiya Bazaar in Rupandehi district Saturday morning around 5.30 am.

Three out of five died on the spot, two died while undergoing treatment and one died at the Lumbini Zonal Hospital, according to area police office of Butwal.

The deceased have been identified as Gageshwor Chapagai, of Dudrakshya-6, Tikaram Chapagai, Deep Pareyar, Kamal Pareyar, Deepak Poudel, 22 of Phedikhola of Syangja and Radha Karki, said Western Zonal Traffic Office of Butwal.

The jeep with the registration Lu 1 Ja 148 was heading towards the east when it collided head-on with the bus with a registration number Ko 1 Kha 3195 on the East-West Highway.

The bus was heading from Biratnagar to the west carrying school teachers for an observation tour.
