Bill registered for statute amendment
By A Staff Reporter

Kathmandu, April 22

The government Sunday registered a bill for the 12th amendment of the Interim Constitution in the parliament Secretariat to shorten the procedures for promulgating of the new constitution within May 27.

On behalf of Law Minister Brajesh Kumar Gupta, officials at the ministry registered the bill to make amend the Article 70 of the Interim Constitution 2007.

If amended, the Article would allow the Constituent Assembly to promulgate the new constitution by following shorter procedures.

It will take five days to become the bill matured in the parliament

The government had last week decided to register the bill in the parliament.

However, the House Session was yet to be summoned to formally register the bill.

A cabinet meeting last week decided to register the bill in the parliament as the major political parties agreed to amend the Article.

The Constituent Assembly has to promulgate the constitution by May 27, the last deadline fixed by the Apex Court.
