By Our Correspondent

Rajbiraj, May 21

Locals of Kanchanpur in Saptari district today vandalized and set fire at the office of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to protest the ongoing load shedding.

The locals vandalized windows of Sub-branch of the NEA based in Kanchanpur Hatiya by entering into the office and also burned the documents.

The locals vandalized the office at 12:00 noon saying the office did not provide electricity service for the past two days.

They also warned of padlocking the office if the electricity was not provided regularly.

The locals said that they informed the body concerned about the load shedding but it was not listened and claimed that the power was supplied to other places by curtailing in Kanchanpur.

No agitators were arrested though police used slight force to remove them after the agitators started to vandalize the office.

More police personnel have been deployed at the office of the NEA after the incident.
