Kathmandu, May 23
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a double-digit fall of 20.42 points to close at 385.66 on Wednesday.
With clouds of uncertainty hovering in the country’s political arena, the NEPSE index has declined significantly.
Investors have lost their confidence owing to the uncertainty of the promulgation of the new constitution and disputes among the political parties and ethnic groups.
The index had also gone down by 8.66 points on Tuesday.
On Wednesday’s transaction, all the sub-indices, except hotel group, showed a downturn trend.
Sub-index of ‘others’ group showed the highest fall of 29.37 points followed hydropower group (28.09), Banking (26.83),and manufacturing (6.64) to close at 540.47, 635.97 points, 361.15 points and 667.18 points, respectively.
Similarly, the sub-indices of insurance group, development bank and finance slacked by 3.68 points, 1.11 points and 0.13 points to close at 496.05 points, 272.28 points and 271.62 points, respectively.
However, the sub-indices of the hotel group gained 2.25 points to close at 447.05 points.
A total of 89,063 shares of 8155 companies worth Rs. 38,609,306 were traded in 767 transactions on Wednesday.
