Kathmandu, May 30
The civil society’s influential leaders Wednesday offered advice to President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav that he should act as the protector of the constitution and go ahead in line with the interim constitution.
During their meeting at the Shital Niwas, they suggested forming a national consensus government to tackle the present political crisis.
They expressed hope that the president would play his role to protect democracy, save the achievements of Janaandolan and keep the ethnic harmony as the only elected institution after the dissolution of the constituent assembly and the legislature-parliament.
President Yadav told the leaders that he would not cross the line of the interim constitution in its letter and spirti.
After the meeting, Nepal Bar Association president Prem Bahadur Khadka said the national consensus government must be there in absence of the legislature-parliament to use clause 158 of the interim constitution which gave him the right to remove obstructions under the Badha Fukau provision.
