Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai Friday reiterated that the government would hold the fresh elections as scheduled on November 22.
Addressing a convocation ceremony and basic training of the Armed Police Force (APF) Inspector batch of APF Training Mahabidhyalya at Lampat here, the Prime Minister said that the government was all set to hold the fresh elections as the nation needed a fresh people’s mandate.
"The nation is standing at the threshold of change. The government is fully committed to holding the fresh elections," Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai said.
He expressed his confidence that the APF would play a significant role to make the new elections successful just like the role they played during the elections to the earlier Constituent Assembly.
At the function, the Prime Minister directed all security organs to engage in their duties at a time when the nation was determined to hold the fresh elections during this transition phase.
"It is an obligation of all to safeguard the national independency, sovereignty and unity. Strengthening the national unity with state restructuring based on ethnic, regional, lingual and federal units by shunning class-wise, ethnic, regional and gender-wise inequalities is a must at the current time," he said.
The Prime Minster assured that he is committed to strengthen the national unity and integration through the guarantee of proportional representation, respecting the existing ethnic, regional and lingual diversities.
Dr Bhattarai said that the nation was facing hurdles owing to international terrorism, human trafficking, import of arms, drug smuggling and added that Nepal had yet to be set free from internal problems.
On the occasion, 77 APF personnel under contingent 9 graduated, although 85 persons had participated in the training.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bijaya Kumar Gachchhaddar said that all security organs should be alert to establish a strong nation at a time when it was engulfed in transition.
Inspector General of APF Kosh Raj Panta said that the APF was committed to serve the people by expanding its organization.
Prime Minister Bhattarai felicitated the top trainees in the function.
Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has ruled out any possibility of reviving the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA).
Meanwhile, At a pres conference organized here on Friday by Revolutionary Journalists’ Association (RJA), Kaski, Prime Minister Dr. Bhhatrai said that the Supreme Court could again reject if efforts are made to resurrect the CA, which was dissolved automatically.
‘The Parliament was reinstated in 2063 BS following the People’s Movement by using power rested on the King as per the 2047 BS Constitution. The present Constitution has not bestowed such power to anyone so the CA revival was not possible’. Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai clarified.
Terming the opposition parties’ protest the outcome of immediate response, he said, adding the elections would get success if the parties were committed to democracy and peace.
The Prime Minister further said he was compelled to announce the elections date abiding by the ruling of the Supreme Court to avert political, constitutional and moral crisis.
Prime Minister Bhattarai also suggested the parties to work with conscience by shunning emotional outburst and aggression.
Prime Minsiter Bhattarai, who is also the Vice-chairperson of Unified CON (Maoist)), expressed readiness to quit the prime ministerial post if the dissent Mohan Baidhya faction worked with firm commitment for in favor of party unity.
