Kathmandu, July 5
Santosh Nepal of Central Deaf Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu clinched double gold medals in the opening day of the 17th Inter School National Special Sports on Thursday in Capital.
Nepal won the gold medals in the 100 and 400 meters race in the deaf category.
Sanjay Tamang of Srijana Higher Secondary School of Pokhara bagged silver medal in the 100 meters and Ram Bahadur Seti of Manakamana Deaf School satisfied in the third place with bronze medals whereas Deepak Katuwal of Central won silver and Raj Kumar Chaudhary of Birat Deaf school, Birtnagar took the bronze.
Similarly, Sangita Basnet of central won the title of the girls 100 meters race keeping behind Anuradha Poudel and Susmita Tamang in the second and third place. Manisha Adhikari of Srijana won the gold medals in the girls 400 meters race and Rinki Kumari Mahato of central bagged silver medals whereas Sangita Basnet of central finished in the third place.
Rupesh Chaudharay of Western Deaf School, Dharan won gold medal and Raj Kumar Chaudhary of Birat snatched a sliver medal while Santosh Ghimire of central finished in the third spot in the of Deaf boys Shot-put.
In the girl’s section, Tal Devi Garbuja of Dhulagiri Deaf School, Baglung bagged gold medal, Laxmi Maharjan of central satisfied in the second place and Rita Dhakal of Manakamana finished in the third place.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Shah of Nepal National Secondary school kissed the gold medal in the 50 meter’s race of the fully visually impaired section. Radhay Shyam Chaudhary of Nepalgunj and Suman Devkota of Namuna Machhindra finished at the second and third place respectively.
In girl’s category Rita Thapa of Amar Singh, Pokhara cinched gold medals and Sunita Bhattrai of Kirtipur bagged home sliver medal while Sangita Adhikari of Bara snatched home bronze medals.
The two days long tournament held in Kathmandu saw a total of 302 players participating in the tournament fighting for the 40 gold medal.
Member secretary of Natonal Sports Council (NSC), Yub Raj Lama inaugurated the Games.
